Learn. Debate. Collaborate for Change.

The program of WRF2021 will take place on 12-14 October 2021, with three days of online sessions, and two small physical hubs in Zürich (Switzerland) and Accra (Ghana). Online sessions will be held every afternoon, open for participants from all over the world, while activities at the Swiss Hub and the Ghana Hub will be organised on the mornings of October 13 and 14, respectively.

Leveraging all the opportunities that such a hybrid conference setting has to offer, the conference program will consist of inspiring keynotes & plenary sessions, scientific sessions, interactive workshops, matchmaking opportunities & other special events (such as policy dialogues, youth sessions, WRF Cinema).

We are designing the program to allow for deep and prolific interactions among all the participants, in order to ensure knowledge exchange, open discussions, and the rise of new collaboration opportunities.

More detailed information will be provided here as soon as they are available.

WRF 2021 Physical Hubs

The Ghana Hub will be located at the GIZ training centre on the Agbobloshie Scrap Yard in Accra. On the one hand, this provides excellent conference facilities, and on the other hand highly exciting excursions can be carried out. Also, the informal sector can be involved in the conference through a participatory approach, and the participants do not only discuss theoretical challenges but experience a part of it first-hand practices.

The Swiss Hub will be located at the Empa Academy in Dübendorf/Zürich. Empa is the ETH Domain’s interdisciplinary research institute for materials science and technology development. As a bridge be-tween research and practice, it develops solutions for the priority challenges of industry and society. At Empa, new technologies, materials and systems are tested, researched, further developed and validated under real conditions. Participants thus benefit from excellent conference facilities and can also take part in guided tours on request.
